Frequently Asked Questions
How many lessons will it take to learn to drive?
The DVSA say it could take around 40 hours of professional driving tuition to reach test standard and around 20 hours of private practice . In our experience it really does vary on each individual. Of course, everyone learns differently and it’s our job to make sure you learn the way that suits you, and as quickly and safely as possible!
What happens on my first driving lesson?
A first ever driving lesson consists of your driving instructor checking the details from your provisional driving licence, an eye sight test where you’ll be asked to read a license plate from 20.5 metres, and of course, some driving! You will learn how to correctly perform the cockpit drill, gain a good understanding of all the feet and hand controls, how to safely move the car away and bring it to a stop. It’s likely you’ll be turning out and into junctions and also changing gears!
How long are driving lessons?
At Complete Driving Tuition we have a minimum of 2 hour lessons. Mainly because learners tend to progress a lot quicker when lessons are longer. A one hour driving lesson just isn’t enough!
